Fredericksburg VA

Tonight we are at the Fredericksburg/Washington DC KOA campground. Carlene and I have been here a few times.  It is a nicely forested campground which is a bit unusual for the classic private campground.

We arrived a bit late, about 7:30.  We got a slightly late start because I had to run an errand for a couple hours this morning.  And then we decided to go for it anyway.  I had planned the route to avoid the heavy traffic areas.  I like coming down US Rt 15 from Harrisburg and skipping the DC traffic.  So I drove second shift.  Somehow the GPS got the notion to take us to Washington anyway.  At 5 pm!  On the Beltway.   (*@##&$@*&)  I got pretty worn out from it but I sure did get a lot more accustom to driving the coach!

It is quite nice to be in a place where it’s 51 degrees at 8:30 pm!  We also got the water system set up so we have indoor water now.  Actually this is our first campground of the trip.

On to NC tomorrow!

  1. At that KOA you're just a short drive over the tracks to Guinea Station, site of Stonewall Jackson's death. Stonewall's parting words are very apropos for your trip: "Let us cross over the river and rest under the shade of the trees."
