The sun came out, the wind came up too! Overall a nice day with good comfortable temperatures and a breeze to blow the smoke away from us black powder shooters. I was shooting the afternoon wave so I went over about 10 to get my stuff together and have lunch. They provide a pulled pork BBQ lunch for all shooters.
I’m on a good fun posse that has plenty of good workers. I’m with an old friend from CT who now lives in SC, and anther couple formerly from NJ whom I’ve known for several years. And Duc McCandless who I met at the FL shoot 3 years ago, he runs a popular “What’s the Call” page on FB about the rules of the game. He is also a fellow Frontiersman (cap n ball pistols).
The evening the guys next door had several others from the other side of the plantation come over for a pot luck. We had quite a feast. All excellent dishes. One guy made potatoes in a Dutch oven with onion, jalapeños, bacon and… Mountain Dew! It was good, although I could do with less soda. He also made a pineapple upside down cake in another Dutch oven. One young lady Mae a fine Pico de Gallo type cucumber dish, a black bean dish and big pot of excellent chili. All of that followed by some time beside the camp fire. Now that’s what Cow Camp is all about!
