Second day at Fire & Ice.
I got back to camp early enough to get through registration at WR, check out thee half of the vendors who are open, or partly open but letting browsers come in anyway.
Then out for a nice bike ride. Went over to Lake Pleasant and up the access roads on each side of the lake. Not many views of the lake but the terrain is more hilly with more big hills beyond it. That is the beginning of the mountain country to the north of Phoenix.

As I was leaving the campground, to start out for the day, I was surprised to see how close the hot air balloon was to the highway. It looked like it was preparing to land across from the Ben Avery Shooting facility where we are camped. We have been seeing many in the vicinity.
My plans for today was to drive to Tortilla Flat and look for a trail to hike. Tortilla Flat was a stagecoach stop in 1904 and followed the Apache Trail. There's not much there but tourists can stop for lunch or check out the mercantile/gift shop. It was a beautiful drive to get there. I entered the Tonto National Forest with great views of the Superstition Mountains and Canyon Lake Reservoir.
Cal and I found a nice hike that climbed moderately to wonderful vistas. We shared the trail with a number of hikers and their canine companions. It was a pleasant day in the high 60's.
