Hiked to the Chimneys and back for about 5 miles. That's about the same mileage we did yesterday. Good hike over mostly flat ground to some rock towers that are volcanic dikes where the surrounding ground has eroded away. Out there Carlene met a former dairy goat farmer from NC who is working in the park as a camp host for 3 months
Rode over to Panther Jct. to the Visitor Ctr. for some reading and reference material.
Went out for pizza to a place we have tried a couple times before but wasn't open then. Got lucky this time.
Steve Harper, former director of Green Mountain National Forest back when Carlene worked there. She did not know him at the time but they both recognized the name of the guy she worked for.
Met up with a group of 5 locals and spent a good 3 hours talking with them.
