Terlingua, TX

First, I have added a few photos to yesterday’s post.  That was the San Pedro campground.

A bit longer day at 268 miles.  There isn’t any short way to get here!  And the big rolling hills soaked up some fuel too.  Good thing there is a truck stop in Sanderson TX,   Lots of great scenery to along the way.  The Amistad Reservoir offers some scarce water scenery.  The rolling hills may eat fuel but they also give some rare vantage points.

Once we leave the reservoir behind there is just lots of open desert.  I find it fascinating because it is so different than anything in New England.  As i drive along I’m scanning the landscape for anything that stands out.  Cattle, sheep, goats, houses, water, changing flora or whatever.  We saw some bison a few days ago, not at the bison ranch either!  Traffic is pretty sparse too.

So now we are at he Big Bend Resort RV Campground in Terlingua TX, just 3 miles outside the west gate of the park.  We’ve booked 6 nights here so we’ll have lots of time to wander around one of the best parks in the US.  It’s big, remote and uncrowded.  We always enjoy this place.  It is probably our 6th time here.

Railroad bridge on the Amistad River

Some palm trees, generally planted for landscaping

Many rock layers

Warm enough for Skye to have an open window

Some trail riders going out for a sunset ride

And we got to take a short hike too
