Carlene's day:
Today, Callahan and I went exploring while Andy was participating in a cowboy action shooting event. We traveled a few miles from the campground to a place called Franklin. It is a historic town site located on the San Pedro River. It was a booming silver mining town back in the late 1880s. Now, the only things left are a school house built of gypsum blocks (museum/gift shop), post office, back wall of a silver processing stamp mill. This was one of seven mills along the San Pedro that supported the 50 mines in the Tombstone Hills. There's a cemetery on a round hill top with nice views and where the wind blows. We followed a loop trail along the San Pedro River, past the wall and cemetery for nearly four miles sharing it with a few horse back riders.
Andy's day:
A fine Cowboy Action Shoot at the Tombstone Livery. I got 6 stages of badly needed practice, and will get another 6 tomorrow. Quite a group here, 40 shooters from all over, AK, NY, CA, and even two guys from Australia. Half of us are warming up for Winter Range next week, the other half have a two day shoot here next weekend.
In the afternoon we went to Benson to check it out. All we found was an ice cream shop. Highly successful trip I'd say.
