Elephant Butte State Park, NM

Left Alamogordo this morning, drove through the White Sands Missile Range & over a steep pass to come into Las Cruces.  On up I-25 to Elephant Butte and another beautiful state park.  Along the way we crossed the Rio Grande without going to Mexico.  This park is on a reservoir, our camper is overlooking a very large beach and the water beyond.  When the reservoir was full some years ago this site would have been on the water.  The long time drought in the west has this, and most other, reservoirs at low levels.

Met up with a bunch of Cowboy Action Shooting friends who spend the winter out here.  Most of them live in an RV park a couple miles from this state park.  Ramrod, Ike McCoy, Snoozer, Gabby, Mose & Blaze.  That was FUN!
