Ben Avery Shooting Facility is one big shooting range. 1650 acres. I didn't measure it but it must be a mile from the entry gate to the place we are camping. Most of that distance is occupied by various specific shooting areas.

Arrived at Winter Raange
An easy 3 hour drive from Tucson to Winter Range, on the north side of Phoenix. For a big city the interstate drive was not bad coming through the city. I guess I can credit Houston for that, I've never seen traffic quite like that so Phoenix was fine! But it was nearly 50 miles from entering the suburban area at Chandler in the SE of the city and getting to the range on the north end.
