Edisto day 3

Finished hiking all the trails in the park this morning.  That was 5 miles yesterday but only 3 today.  We saw a deer on our way back, the park crew was picking it up from the side of the road.  3 point buck.  Yup, it's January and he still had his antlers.  We also see some spring flowers blooming.  Put those two things together; the deer is carrying antlers until spring flowers bloom. This northerner doesn't know what time of year it is!
This afternoon we went back to the Edisto Island Museum for a while.  Some nice exhibits that I'll try to show you below.  If the WiFi holds up.  Big IF.  (looks like it did!)
The out to Boothbay Plantation for a couple hour driving tour.  Not much left of it, some foundation and a few buildings.

A pond at the museum

Some views on the walking trails at Edisto Beach State Park

Boardwalk over the marsh at Park

Dead Man's Fingers, a fungus

At the Museum
An early cotton gin

Boothbay Plantation:
Ice House, ice brought by ship from New England

Ice storage below the floor

A Tabby building
Tabby is a sea shell based form of concrete

The Sea Cloud Plantation is part of Boothbay built in 1825, so just shy of 200 years ago

This Live Oak was probably here when they built Sea Cloud
