Shepard State Park, Gautier, LA

It was a wet night, rained until sometime after we went to sleep.  Got up to thick fog, like Maine.  The radio station was cautioning people to turn on their car lights.  It was kind of funny.  Don't just depend on the automatic lights, "Reach down with your hand and turn the switch"!  I sure wanted mine on.  As we talked to park reservations about tonight, 150 miles away, they said it was a foggy morning there too!  Speaking of reservations, this is Martin Luther King holiday weekend coming up.  It took some looking and several phone calls to find a place for Thur-Sun.  We wanted a park on Lake Pontchartrain north of New Orleans, but they were full.  Ended up a hundred miles west of NOLA  at Lake Fausse Pointe SP.  We stayed there a few days last year.  We looked back at this blog to see what we thought of it.  You see, we use this blog occasionally to check out own memories!

So, the drive over here was nice rolling countryside.  Nothing special scenery wise but just country.  It got near 80 again today.  This will be 4 nights in a row with the window(s) open!  I don't think we had that many nights all last winter.  It is definitely a warmer winter than the last 2 years.  Don't recall the first year that well.  It was also all new experience with little realistic expectations.  Now we can notice things that are different from year to year.

We recognized this park on our way in.  We spent 2 nights here 2 years ago.  We even found the camp site where we stayed.  It had a toy-hauler camper on it now with a rear deck like we have (but we don't use ours yet).  They were sitting out on the deck when we walked by.

We took a short hike this afternoon, saw a corner of the park we hadn't seen last time.  4.1 miles.  We have a 3 mile/day average so far, according to my phone app.

The only photos today are ones I took on the dash cam.

Motor cop in Pascagoula.  At 77 degrees and (presumably) wearing a vest under the coat, he must be warm!
