Talk about a rainy day! It started out warm in AL, it was 66 for an overnight low! It even got into the 70s as we drove west. But as we approached Montgomery AL we hit some heavy rain. Like full wipers and slow down to 45! Plus it cooled into the 60s and has stayed there all day.
All that rain also changed our plans. We had reserved space at a HH in western AL on a farm. Parking on grass. I know at home that much rain makes my yard slick. We called them and we all agreed it was dicey. They had standing water in many places so we figured that bringing in a heavy trailer might not work well. We agreed to not test it.
We parked at a truck stop and checked all around, finally settling on a KOA about 50 miles farther west. We tried several Corps of Engineers campgrounds around a big lake near Demopolis AL but couldn’t get any information from them because it is Saturday. They all appeared to be first come first served. That’s ok if you know the place is big enough to drive in and get back out easily.
Driving through Selma today Carlene’s first impression of downtown was how run down it looked. Our route took us right through the middle of town. It’s not as big as I thought it would be.
The next couple days look like a repeat of last year. Our favorite winery in LA, then a favorite ranch in Texas.
RAIN!
Just a roadside attraction

Something moved out there!

Driving through driving rain is always dicey. The line of storms shown on local news looked pretty nasty. Glad you and Carlene made it throught okay.
