Terlingua, waiting it out

I know I posted this last night; sometimes it doesn’t happen even when I hit “post and confirm”

This was a different kind of day.  Cold, overcast and sometimes rainy.  I don’t think it got much over 40° today.  We spent the morning inside except to walk Skye.  After lunch we went to the Terlingua Trading Post to browse around.  We bought a few things, like a T-shirt and book etc.  Looked over the ghost town through the truck window.

Then drove west to see the views over the Rio Grande.  The clouds were low but not that low.  There are a couple vantage points offering great views up and down stream.  At least Skye got to go for a ride today.

It’s down to 36° as I write this at 8 PM.  Less rain and high 40s tomorrow so the storm has passed us now, even sunny 50 for Monday.  The trick for traveling again is the snow in Van Horn, they’re supposed to get a couple inches of snow tonight and tomorrow without enough sun to melt it quickly.  Monday travel is still awaiting better weather.  Tuesday is back in the 50s up there, so that’ll work if Monday doesn’t.

The trading post used to be the company store for the mine

Did you see what went by???

  1. I’ve see that look everyday with our Goldens on the back of our couch as they undo the cushions. Only they can see the air moving lol.

  2. You're missing or maybe not, our first real snowstorm! Got up to -1 today from -16, balmy! Expecting about a foot of light fluffy snow. Give that dawg a hug!
