Fun
day in New Orleans #2! We each got a $3 unlimited all day pass for
the trolley and went on a tour of the central part of the city. The trolley took us by some of the bigger
mansions and past Loyola and Tulane Universities. I discovered later this evening that the St. Charles Avenue line is the oldest continuously running street railroad system in the world, dating back to the early 19th century. The green cars date from 1923. I personally thought it was a kind of yucky green, but knowing it's history makes it a little better.
Once
back from that we went through the National WW II Museum. Some deep history on all aspects of the war
but of course Andy thought the airplane display was the best. Many examples of the best flying machines of
the day hanging from the ceiling with observation decks running around them for
great views of the suspended aircraft.
Cap all that with a great dinner
at Tujague’s (2 Jack’s) Restaurant on Decatur Street, the second oldest restaurant
in the city. Andy: Louisiana Lump Crab &
Wild Mushroom Gnocchi; Carlene: Gulf Puppy Drum Pontchartrain. Oh my, was that GOOD! With all
this we timed out our 9 hour parking space!
Cal
stayed home again, he still was not happy.
It was dark by the time we got home.
Looks
like a low of 60 tonight. Finally
getting some of the weather we came all this way for.
We woke up to a few deer behind the camper today |

Early original trolley car, we rode one today. This is the only stock photo I have used, all others are our own. |
