Empire Ranch 4, Arizona Trail

A little less snow for hiking today!  We went back to Patagonia to hike a short piece of the Arizona Trail.  I say short because we only did about 2.5 miles (5.3 round trip) of the 800 mile AZ Trail.  It runs the height of AZ from Mexico to Utah.  It was a short trip because we took Callahan along and he’s not up for any more than this.  And we didn’t want to leave him home again another day.  It was a beautiful day, maybe it got to 70, cool breeze, bright sun.  We met a couple of other hikers,  2 brothers-in-law from Tucson who are section hiking the trail and ending a 2 day hike.  They looked well worn for 2 days and had heavy packs.  But in this dry country you have to carry all your water so pack weight goes up fast.

Back to camp afterwards for some munchies in the sun and another fine sunset.
The photos are not in the preferred order, they are sorted by my camera and Carlene’s.  The laptop is running out of power so I couldn’t do as much as usual.  I had the inverter on to charge it but it didn’t seem to help much.  I had plenty of trailer battery (14v with the solar panels in full sun) so that’s not the problem.  I’ll try it tomorrow and maybe put a meter on it.  It’s an older inverter so who knows.  All part of the fun of going off grid.

It’s cattle country so there are some stock fences and gates
