Empire Ranch, day 1

Back at Empire Ranch, formerly a 40,000 acre ranch that is now still a working ranch but on land rented from BLM (Bureau of Land Management).  We are on the same location as last year so it feels very familiar and comfortable.  Tonight there are 5 other campers in sight, one of them being a slide-in camper on a pick-up with a horse trailer and one horse outside.

The first time we drove out here on the ranch we saw an antelope resting on the hillside across the road near here.  Today coming in we see at least 10 antelope resting and grazing on the hillside a quarter mile south of here.  And while walking after supper we heard some coyotes in the distance.  Last year we heard the coyotes so close I swore I could open the door and talk with them.
