3 days in Louisiana

The last 3 days have had terrible cell and zero internet connectivity, so here is a summary and a whole album of pictures.
Well, apparently the pictures will have to wait.  WiFi is only good enough for text.

Friday:
A short drive of just 180 miles from Beaumont TX area to Lake Fausse Pointe State Park in St. Martinsville Louisiana.
One of the trailer tires was wearing on the outside so I rotated it with the spare tire when we got to camp.  Some of you have wondered how my shoulder is doing.  Well, 2 months ago I would have had a hard time lifting the lug wrench.  It still hurts some, especially at night.  Range of motion is almost full with pain only in a few odd movements (or when I throw something without thinking).  Strength still needs much improvement.
Then we hung around in our chairs for a while just relaxing in the sun and watching the woods.   This is a very wet area.  Lots of standing water all around us.  Saw a Little Blue Heron in the water behind the camper.  Many people here bring boats.  Our neighbor towed a boat behind his camping trailer.  But they have signs prohibiting swimming by people or pets.   Alligators!   We talked with one of the locals who said there are a lot more than when he grew up here.  That guy also told us a few places to visit.

Saturday:
Took a tour of the area, St. Martinsville, New Iberia and Burns Point Rec Area.
St. Martinsville is an old town with some nice old buildings.  We wandered around the downtown for a while until we had seen enough.  Down the road some more to New Iberia.  That's a more recent town and larger.
Ate out at Bon Creole for lunch, cool place with various deer, fish, bison and elk mounts on the wall.  There we met a guy who grew up in Brandon VT.  He told us about a great place for dinner.  Based on that we had dinner at Jane's Seafood and Chinese.  Yeah, now that's a combo for you.  I didn't notice anyone with the Chinese food.  Lots of crawfish.
After lunch we rode farther south to Burns Point National Recreation Area.  Turns out the only recreation to be found there is fishing.  They have a small campground and picnic area but it's all about the fishing.  We talked with a couple of locals who were fishing but it seemed that they were just fishing for whatever they caught.

Sunday:
It was just 87 miles to our next camp at Bayou Segnette State Park just SW of New Orleans.  We have met up with Stevie and Jayne who have come down here from Richmond with their camper van.  We'll be here for 3 nights and have made some plans for the next couple days.

These photos have taken a couple hours to upload.  It's midnight and I can't be bothered to sort and label them.  Later...
And today with the park almost empty I have a lot more bandwidth to upload photos.
Sorry they are in such random order.
