Green Valley, AZ

Today we met up with our friends Stevie and Jayne in Green Valley; they are out here from Richmond.  We all went up into Madera Canyon for some walking, light hiking and bird watching.  Apparently this is a bird watcher place, everywhere you looked there was someone with binoculars looking up into the trees.  One place had an array of feeding stations to attract many different birds, and plenty of chairs under cover to relax and watch.  We saw the Acorn Woodpecker, Dark-eyed Junco, Bridled Titmouse, and Mexican Jay just to name a few.   The hike took us up a stream with a waterfall.
After all this we all went to a Mexican restaurant for lunch.
Some grocery shopping to stock up for the next phase completed the day.
We are still at Pima County FG tonight.  Tomorrow we'll head out to Empire Ranch for some boondock camping.  I think there will be some cell coverage so I can still post.  Note that "I think".

First a few of yesterday's pictures at Empire Ranch:

It always impresses me how rural the edge of a big city in the West can be

Caught a few more overpass art on the way to Green Valley today

Some of my bird watching today.  Pretty colorful in the sun!
