Camp La Viña

The La Viña winery is a Harvest Host site. We shared a delicious wine tasting of 6 wines, bought a  Gewurztstriaminer to bring home.  Then we took Skye for a walk around the vineyard and the pecan orchard.

We left Arizona this morning, first going into Safford for a tank dump and a fill up of fresh water.  Very scenic ride through SE AZ on US 70 to Lordburg NM. There are some interesting places that may need a check out someday.  Leaving Arizona is always a melancholy time.  It means the trip is winding down.  Even though there are four more weeks it is so much less than the 3+ months when we left.  This traveling is just so much FUN!

14 days in one place is a record for us.  We made out quite well with water.  The waste tans were not completely full nor were we out of fresh water.  But it was getting close!

Entered DST at the NM border.  The computer clocks all took care of them selves.  The analog clock on the wall can wait for tomorrow’s time zone change.

At a rest area outside Deming NM we met a pair of bicyclists (brothers) who are doing the Southern Tier bike route from San Diego, CA to St. Augustine FL.  They were enjoying a tail wind today!  Actually so was I, the truck was running 11 mpg at 68 mph.  Speed limit was 75 on I-10  We saw several other cyclists too, including two who were on the side of the highway changing a tube.  I-10 in much of NM allows bicycles, in many places it is the only road.

There are 4 campers here tonight.  The big lot has room for 15 with several having electric hookups..  During COVID they had 10 or so frequently.  The tasting room was closed but people could place an order which they would leave in a certain place.  They say they are the oldest winery in NM.

Last look at Graham

Irrigation
There is a gas engine running that pump, and it is the only background noise that we can hear.  I suppose it is only so noticeable because we are so accustom to total silence!
