Safford AZ, Camp Haekel

It was a lot of packing to get ready this morning. I should have done a before & after photo.  Had all the cowboy wardrobe hanging in the back room. Pack all that, get all the ammo from under the outdoor table and get all that in the truck, the cart too. The bike started up but needed a couple miles on the road to warm up completely. That was so it was running well when I rode it up the ramp into the back of the trailer. Then get the bicycles in beside that. Arrange all the misc stuff around those. Plus the cooler of odd stuff, two generators, tables & chairs.

It was 11:00 when all that was done and we went to the dump station. Still locked so into a camp site like before.

11:45 we were on the road. It’s 4 lane highway for the first hour out to Apache Jct. What open land is between there and Phoenix is under construction.  And no big fuel places!  I had a challenging gas station in Superior, didn’t like it so I found a closed store nearby, unhitched the trailer and went back for fuel.  I knew we didn't have enough to go to the next town.  Not comfortably anyway.

We arrived in Safford about 4 and came out to our old favorite campsite on Haekel Road. There is a small pick up here too, with a bike in the back.  We think there is a tent on the other side of the truck but we haven’t seen anyone. We’re 100 yds away and I parked my truck so it’s a visual block between us.

It was in the 70s today and we finally felt warm enough to eat outdoors. First time all winter!  Nice sunset but too cloudy to see the full moon.

Graham Mtn has snow and it might be lower down than it was 3 years ago. We’ll find out!

One last sunrise in Phoenix
