EOT Final

End of Trail has ended.  Today was the Top 16 Shoot-off in the morning.  That is always fun to watch.  The top 16 men and 16 ladies compete one-on-one in an elimination until the last man and last woman have the title.  It does not relate at all to the final placement from 3 days of competition, it’s a side event for the fun and show of it.
After that was the awards presentation.  In our posse of 18 there were 8 award winners.  I got 4th place in my Frontiersman category.  Still can’t believe that.  I have not placed better than 8th in any other year at either Winter Range or EOT.
We had the New England shooters over to the camper for munchies after the awards.  Kind of a relax and unwind after a long week.
Then the final gun cleaning.  I didn’t have any time yesterday and didn’t want to do it in the next camp.  Everything has to be packed for travel tomorrow morning.  That’ll take a while anyway.
Destination is BLM land near Safford AZ for more boondocking and hiking on Mt Graham.

Shoot off starts with a pair of shooters in the center

They move to one side and engage a set of knockdown targets with shotgun, pistols and then rifle.

The video shows it all. First one to complete the course and k ock down their center target is the winner. This is Damascus John. He’s the only one using Black Powder!  He made it to the semi-finals. He also placed 13th overall!  He was on our posse; fine guy, great posse worker too.
