Well, the luck of the Irish didn’t extend into today. We’re fine, I’m only talking of inconvenience. It was a beautiful morning in Willcox and our drive to the state line was great. Nice views of the north and east sides of the Chiricahua range. Once in NM we could see a dust storm out miles in front of us. I’ve driven in some small dust storms out here. This was a medium storm. Kind of like the fog in Maine or a modest blizzard. Visibility was sometimes down to stoping distance at 50 mph. Never had to slow down more than that. Traffic was very light. By the time we were near Deming we discussed going to our old fav Hidden Valley Ranch RV camp. Good timing too. They closed I-10 at Deming. We called HV and got a space, made the turn up that way and hit a traffic stop. Full stop. Cop cars passed us, later two ambulances, much later a flatbed tow truck.
We sat for FIVE HOURS! The state had closed both I-10 and US 180, which is the only road to get to camp We were 3 miles from the turn to HVR
Just happy to be here now
3 lousy miles!! Dang, that's a long time sitting at a stand still. Those dust storms look pretty unpleasant. Glad you guys made it into camp safely.
