We went for a hike in the south portion of the park. That has the water, animals and most of the trails. First was checking in at the park entrance for our truck and camper pass, then out to see the longhorns (didn’t find them) and the bison. We did find the bison. Then a tour out by the lake but did not see any easy access for Skye. By late morning we were on a hike out the north end of the southern section of the park. It may or may not be completely separated. Or possibly just a lack of roads between the parts.
Anyway, we had a good 4 mile hike around the fringe of what would be the lake if it were full. It’s a flood control lake so it’s not full by intent. We saw some birds but nothing else. Plenty of Javalina tracks, especially at the water and moist places.
Then a quick run down to town for haircuts and a grocery store.
Back at camp for Carlene’s hand made guacamole & beverages. Supper outdoors too.
It’s 8:15 and there is a family of four across the street playing catch. Another couple came by saying they were from Vermont too, although we had no common acquaintances. Now just waiting for the sunset colors.
