The San Luis mines

Sunny and fairly warm day, no shorts but very comfortable.
Looking for a simple day of exploring we saw the San Luis Mines on the map and went over to see what there was to see.  It was a mix of good to poor gravel roads and we eventually decided we’d driven far enough and walked from there.  After all it was a walking trip.  We did about 3 miles, found the tailing on a hillside and could see what are probably warning signs posted above them.  We weren’t interested in looking into dark holes in the ground so we followed the road until it ended.  Uneventful but interesting to see new hills and views.  No wildlife to report, more of the same birds.
Oh, we did hear coyotes last night!
Back at camp early we just sat around enjoying the sun, reading and puttering on our last day here.  There isn’t much packing to do, we seldom get out much more than a couple chairs and tables.
Tomorrow at Ben Avery I’ll unpack just about everything we have.  It’s a 12 night camp and needs room in the garage for the cowboy gear.

  1. While you and Carlene enjoy the warm Arizona sun, here in New Hampshire we also have bright sun this morning, (19 FEB 25), but at 7:00 am the air temperature was 3 degrees with a wind chill of -10.

There is a New England contingent coming your way, Tyler and Des, Slippery Dick and company. I'm not sure what their ETA is but they're excited about EOT.

  2. We are having a snow day here in Smithfield! Couple inches maybe - but governor considered it “state of emergency “!!! Birds have been busy, David put seed out twice today. 10 male cardinals and 3/4 females! Plus many more varieties! Imagine the difference between here and where you are! Next week in the 60’s!! Hopefully when you get here in April great weather! Gale and David
