Peralta 4, another hike

Today we had to take the Dutchman Trail.  We had to because it was the only one we hadn't hiked from this trailhead!  A pleasant 6 mile hike out to the Miners Needle.  The needles are eroded peaks with a hole near the top.  We haven't seen the hole in each needle we have hiked to since we have not always been at the right angle to view it.  This hike was mostly on a single contour so we didn't have a lot of climbing.  We could have gone farther and done plenty of climbing but decided we were hot and turned around at the intersection where we had planned to turn around.  We actually had 3 creek crossings today, a rare thing in that distance here in the Sonoran Desert.  I made use of a couple to dunk my hat.  The cool water felt really good!

Another relaxing late afternoon at camp.  We could really get used to this!  Then we went exploring the Dons Camp place next to us.  It's been here since at least the 1950s, Dons Club was founded around 1938 and gone through several names and a couple changes in focus.  It's now a discovery camp for 4th graders and gets occasional other uses like Boy Scout gatherings.
