After a rain day yesterday we were ready to go hit Graham Mtn again. But as we approached it we saw fresh snow at lower elevations than before. While it rained on us in the flat lands yesterday it had snowed up higher. And then rain started hitting the windshield. Bag that! What else is nearby? Roper State Park and Dankworth Pond SP, a separate part of Roper. We went into Dankworth and found a nice pond with several couples fishing along the banks. Yup, they all seemed to be couples. Some of the women were fishing others were just along with their guys. Must be a COVID phenomenon. Can’t associate with anyone so just go along with your mate and do whatever. As we hiked around these trails we ran into dry washes that were not dry, the rains had put water in them. No dry crossing! Around to the other side and... same thing! So much for that.
After an errand in town we went back to camp for lunch with Cal. Since we were not going up big mountain trails he could come along with us. So we went down to Roper Lake State Park. We knew that park because we stayed there a few years ago. I remember the great views of snowy Graham Mtn from there, although we never knew it's name back then. It was a one night park on the road home. We had a good walk with Cal and met some nice folks from Quebec City. Peter and Sylvie left Dec 20 and are headed home about the same time as us, but they are going north through Colorado. A bit early for my taste to go that far north. They have a 22' Class C camper without a Toad (Towed Vehicle), so they drive the house wherever they go. We talked for a good half hour, on the trial and around the vehicles. Then we walked around the campground to check out the campers and the birds on the pond. There was this one domestic duck that was like Velcro on a mallard drake. They swam beak to tail for the whole 200 yards we could see them.
