We had a beautiful bright morning with great view of Graham Mtn and it's new snow. The plan was to go back to where we hiked on St. Paddy's Day with Cal. but this time just us, and with the notion to go a lot farther up. What do you know; Plan A actually worked out for us today! We got back to the trailhead and the girls (the cows and calves) were not there this time. Just as we started up the road someone else drove in and parked. At the simple glance I had I thought it was probably a solo young-middle age female. Never did find out. We never saw this person. The trail is a bit hard to find at the start so maybe they just tried and gave up.
We did go up almost twice as far as we did 3 days ago. It was around 6.5 miles round trip on Carlene's app, although my app claims that I went 7.6 today. Whatever. I was tired. The trail started to fizzle out and broke down into several game trails, none of which seemed to get us where we thought we should be. It was time to turn around anyway, so we did. We saw the cows on the way back, they were out in the green flat area to the west of us.
For more photos of the first half of the hike you can look back to March 17.
