It was supposed to be a rainy day. It did rain for a few minutes a time or two. Maybe that is a rainy day in the Sonora Desert! Anyway, we waited for this rainy day to scout for our next camp site. We visited the BLM Office yesterday to get info and maps, so today we put them to good use. We must have scouted 50 miles of road within 15 miles of Safford. We found several sites that we like so tomorrow we'll head out to see what we can get. Each place we went we found a site that we liked better than the one before. Our first choice changed often.
I think we'll have cell service to blog tomorrow but be forewarned, if you don't see something that means we couldn't connect.
In the course of running around we met Eugene from Taos NM who talked non stop for I don't know how long offering all his advice on places to boondock. Lo and behold the last road we checked this afternoon was one he suggested... and we LIKED it! There are 3-4 spots we would be happy to camp on. Our first choice had a 5th wheel on it when we drove out but was empty when we came back. Good deal!
We ended our tour at the Hot Well Dunes Rec Area which is a campground surrounded by 4 wheeler trails. All the campers there have their 4 wheel toys to run around the dunes. Looks like FUN! Carlene is a bit less enthusiastic.
