Today we went back up the road on Mt. Graham for a hike. The first place we stopped was a rough road off the main road. We parked and walked a ways up the trail, saw a huge dog track and then 2 deer. I only saw the back half of the deer as they flagged their way out of sight. A pretty familiar sight actually. That trail then dropped down to a creek crossing where the water was high enough that we might not be able to make a dry crossing if it was any deeper. Since there was a forecast of rain in the afternoon and it was overcast with grey clouds we decided that we would go find a different trail. Too much risk of rain that would cause the water to rise while we were out there.
Next was the Noon Creek Campground that my app showed with a trail going out the back of the campground. No sign indicating a trail. But it was a good trail and it soon linked onto the Round the Mountain Trail. That was a good hike, a couple miles and 1000' and even though we could have gone farther (Carlene kind of wanted to) it started to rain as we got back to the truck. Made us put on the raincoats for the last 1/4 mile.
Stopped in at the US Forest Service & BLM Office in Safford on our way home; got some good maps of all the federal land in the area. Looks like some good potential for boondocking in the area. We'll do some scouting tomorrow.
