A nice rainy day, luckily it was nothing more than a rainy day. For all the dire Winter Storm forecast down this far south we had a plain ol’ rainy day. Even then it didn’t rain until we were past Montgomery. Never did get beyond intermittent wipers.
The Simmons Wright Co is a big local general store that has been here since 1884. They call it the Dollar General of that era. While we were in the store talking with the owners someone came in asking if they had a heater, her heat at home had quit and she really didn’t want to go to the city. They used to have a couple but had sold them. I bought a couple bottles of their BBQ sauce for our HH contribution. I got one the last time we were here, it was delicious.
We’re parked in the grass just behind the store’s overflow parking area. The railroad is across the road. We’ve already seen 2 Amtrak trains, one east, one westbound. A freight is parked on the tracks now, westbound, apparently waiting for an eastbound to pass.
