First, I’ve added a couple photos to yesterday’s post.
The is Fenn Day, we drove through Winter Storm Fenn. Same storm everyone back home is getting today, but the northern version is a lot of snow, here it was just rain. It was a nice enough morning, occasional showers when we got on the road at 8 AM. The first portion of the trip was just an ordinary rainy day. Just west of Macon GA it became a very rainy day. So much rain that we pulled into a Love’s Truck Stop to wait a bit. 20 minutes later the rain had let up so we headed back out. Saw some lightning, heard one single Thunder! And that was it. By 11 we were out of the storm. By the time we reached Alabama it was partial sunshine for the rest of the day.
Tonight we are at a Boondockers Welcome site, that’s a second part of Harvest Host but without the business. This is a guy’s back yard. He keeps his own camper out here and has room for more so he lets people camp here. Kind of like we do with hikers at home. Mike is very friendly. His Black Lab “Gunner” is too. Gunner and Skye had a great time. After a lot of conversation Mike took us for a 20 minute tour of Prattville. This is the town where David Pratt from NH came to build a cotton gin factory in 1840, the world’s largest! Nice little town, nicely done history section, great waterfall at the dam, especially with all the rain.
Off to MS tomorrow!
