Another slow start today. Nice sunny day, just had some minor things to do around the camper. It really felt like a regular day at home! This morning made 4 weeks on the road. It doesn’t feel like it’s that long yet it feels a bit timeless too
Then we took a drive to a pottery store. Now right off that may not sound like us. But this was a Mexican pottery place, everything made in Mexico. Carlene bought a pot, nice orange base color but with many designs and colors.
Then we explored some roads. The map shows that there are residential roads not too far beyond the pond where we had lunch in Road Canyon 2 days ago. We found that you can’t readily access it from that end.
When we returned to camp we found that the neighbor had left. We never did meet him.
So we went out on a cross country hike with Skye to the west from camp. We kept going along side of the Cienegas Creek wash. We found. A blanket, a fire ring way out beyond where vehicles can go so it must have been someone just packing in on foot or hoof. About a half mile out we met up with a heifer, seemingly alone. That felt like far enough so we came back to camp.
Back here we met a new neighbor, Sandy from Tucson, and her dog. Car camping in a mini van for the night. She said she had some scrap wood and came out here to get rid of it in a campfire. Later she came over and invited us to join her fire. We had a very nice evening at he fire! She has done a great deal of traveling in her life. She’s just a couple years younger than me. We talked about Alaska, Italy, Guatemala Mexico and many states. the wood ran out about 9.
Although wrapped up for the trip home you can see the basic colors
Yucca
