It’s so nice here that we’re staying another night on Sunday.
Part of that is because we spent half of today shopping. Johnson City had what we needed but the stores were all closed. A new tire (a common thing with the trailer) to replace a worn one before we had a problem. And some propane. And some food. We went into H E B for 4 things and spent over $100. It was a great store! Better than a Super Wally. Much more variety than anything at home. And likely the last good grocery store for a couple of weeks. Terlingua has a nice store but on the scale of the Richmond Market in half the space.
Then back at camp I rotated another tire with the spare, they have opposite wear patterns so I should get to completely wear out this one.
Carlene and Skye went for a walk while I was playing with tires. Then I went out for a walk too. I went down to the Pedernales River to look around. The river is up a bit so people were fording, mostly barefoot. A few commented on how cold it is! Cold water in January, who’d have thunk it. I stuck my hand in it, it was chilly but not what I would call cold. C & S had gone a slightly different way, but without good cell coverage I couldn’t find them.
The temperature is supposed to be below freezing tonight, they turned off the water in our loop, and I found a ranger opening faucets to drip in another loop. They offered to let us move but we’re not using the site water anyway.
I had figured the town was named for Lyndon Johnson but didn’t realize before driving around today that it is LBJ’s hometown.
The sky is beautiful again tonight and the coyotes are singing!
