Big Bend 2

Today we went to the Big Bend Ranch State Park, it’s just west of us whereas the National Park is east of us.  We haven’t spent much time in the state park so wanted to see more of it.  There were two places Carlene wanted to go because we could take Skye along.  Turns out we had already been to each of them, just didn’t recognize the name.  The road going over is very scenic running right along the Rio Grande; today we didn’t take any of those photos because we have taken them twice on previous trips.  So we went farther down the road to go up through the main road in the middle of the park.  It was a pretty well washboard gravel road of 27 miles with a 25 mph speed limit.  There were only a few places I could go any faster anyway.  We found a couple places to go hike for a bit, but it was pretty short. One “trail” was 30 yards to a sign advising to “stay on the trail” but no visible sign of any trail!  Great vista though.  On to the Visitor Center where they had a nice exhibit of artifacts and the history of the ranch that became the state park.  An enjoyable day with sun and 70 degrees.  But not a trip we’ll bother doing again.  Got back to camp about 6, still daylight.  Supposed to be 78 tomorrow.  Planning to go to the National Park.

Stay on what trail?

Skye says “I’m not walking on that, you can see right through it!

But this was the view
