Big Bend RV Resort, Terlingua, TX

Beautiful sunny day for a drive across Texas from Del Rio to Terlingua.  But cold.  It did make it into the 40s today in Terlingua, but started well below freezing in Del Rio.

This is a very scenic route with so much changing scenery.  Early on it is the broad flat lands along the Rio Grande valley, then moving into the rolling hills and finally the mountains of Big Bend.  This scenery includes changes in vegetation from some mesquite areas into the small brush lands and some grasslands and then the varied  mixtures in the mountains.

Along with that is the sparse population of West Texas.  One town consists of 3 buildings at an intersection.  Then only two other towns on the route to the park, that’s it for 250 miles.

Here in the RV park we walked around looking at license plates.  Didn’t find any Vermonters here.  Which is a reminder that we did meet a Vermonter yesterday in San Pedro, Bill from Guilford, out alone for the winter, but stopping to visit siblings in 3 places.

We did meet 3 couples who camp together a lot.  One couple lives (retired) in Costa Rica and keeps an RV in the states.  We spent some time talking with them.  They’ll be here for 6 days, the same as us, so we’ll probably be talking with them again.

Lots of views along the road today:
