Rainy day home on the range
This was supposed to be a stormy day, but it’s just very windy with occasional showers. And those are infrequent.
The Emergency! App from Red Cross forecast big snow storms at higher elevations. Like 2’ of snow at 8000’. Since we cannot see Mt Wrightson, the 9000’er in many of our camp photos, it probably is snowing up there!
Didn’t need the generator last night although this morning the batteries were at 35% charge due to the heavy overcast yesterday. But by noon they were back to 100% in the sun. Solar panels are great out here.
We went for a walk in the hills across the road after lunch. It was pretty windy up there! And we could see some rain approaching. So we circled around back to camp and the big dark cloud disappeared. So we went out to the other side, west. Out there Skye found a big, very old leg bone, which she proudly brought back to camp. We sat out in the sun for a few minutes until the clouds showed up again. I was still out when a little bit of small hail came down. Later followed by rain. That lasted for a couple hours ending about 5. Radar says that’s the end of it.
Also about 5 we looked out to find ourselves surrounded by cattle. It’s open range on a working ranch. 15 head of black beef on the hoof stood around us for 20 minutes. They kept checking the trough out front to see if we had anything good to eat. I told them not to worry, Carlene was preparing pork for supper.
Can you see the camper?

We’re in cow country!
Live entertainment!
What you got in there?
