Empire Ranch 7

Would you believe it?  A clear sunny day!  So back to Patagonia State Park to hike the Sonoita Creek Trail. We did a 4.2 mile hike, not bad for a 3 mile trail.  We planned to do this loop, but in the office they told us the creek is knee deep where we have to ford it. So we hiked out to the crossing, let Skye have a good swim and decided to go back the same way. If we had known to plan for it we could have brought the Tiva sandles.  But this made a longer hike anyway.  It went out a ridge with a fairly dense stand of Ocotillos and then down to a plateau of Mesquite.  Then down some more to a wash leading to the creek.  The trail then went out for a ways on an old railroad bed.

We met a few people with dogs on the trail.  Skye made a couple new friends and she made the introductions to the people.   After a quick milk stop in Patagonia we were back home.
A new neighbor moved in while we were away yesterday, we could barely see them in the dark last night.  A small Class B with a dog and 2 bikes.  But we have not met them yet.
