Tucson 5, hike Saguaro Park

Today’s hike was in the Saguaro National Park East, which is just 10 miles north of our campground.  Pretty convenient and one of the reasons why we like camping here.  It is becoming one of our favorite parks!  It is hard not to love being surrounded by huge saguaros!  The hike was just under four miles of mostly flat walking, at least by NE standards!  We have hiked there several times, last year with Terri & Greg.  We overlap some trails each  year but it’s always on mostly new trails.

And there is an East and West portion of the park.  Yesterday we were hiking just south of the West section, in the 20000 acre Tucson Mountain Park, sometimes it’s hard to tell with parks that are adjacent and all the signs are made in the same manner.
We have a list of dog-friendly trails that we’ll use Tuesday.  Tomorrow we’re going to Old Tucson, the movie lot where hundreds of old westerns were made.

This area has hundreds of these very old Saguaro

Here the trail has eroded a little bit!

One live, one skeleton

This Saguaro uprooted, appears recent

A rare creek with water in it!
