Empire Ranch 6, Tombstone & Bislee

 Bisbee and Tombstone day.

Bright sunny day starting at 38
Down in Bisbee, or should it be up in  Bisbee?  It’s south, but it’s up another 1300’. We are at 4560, the top of Bisbee is 5900’.
Anyway, it was a cool wind blowing but anyplace out of the wind was very comfortable.  We started wandering the streets and the first guy we met had a big white pit type dog with him. Backstory, one of our Jonesville neighbors on Dugway Rd., winters down here in Bisbee with her mother.  It didn’t take 3 minutes before discovering that John (and Lucy) knows Dawn through her music at a local church.

We cruised the streets for a while and checked out several shops.  I found a nice leather jacket in practically new condition for $48 and wore it the rest of the day.  My other purchases were pretty mundane.  An old chipped enamel bowl for $2 to use as Skye’s water bowl in the truck, because the stainless steel bowl she had is missing.  I don’t know what she did with it.  My guess is that it was left on the ground someplace where we watered her and then drove away.  Then I bought a cold chisel for $2.  I wanted one last week and of course that’s a tool I didn’t bring.

We had to stop in Tombstone on the way back.  I have a favorite brand of mustache wax that I get there from Tombstone Mustachery.  Wouldn’t you know, they’re out of business.  But I stopped to talk to one of the reenactors who roam Allen St who had a good mustache and he referred me to another Allen St store where they also market their own products.  Back in supply again!

All that and a stop in Sierra Vista for groceries.  Back in camp after dark.  But at least we had the good sense to get ready to eat food when we shopped.

Sunrise this morning

Various views around Bisbee:

Bisbee is built on a steep hillside so the roads are steep and narrow
In some places stairs are a shortcut
One stairway boasts being 1000 steps

Bisbee is full of artists and many of them put their talents to use around town

This washing machine and sewing machine were interesting
